The Sergeant York Patriotic Foundation is a non-profit corporation funded by voluntary contributions and serves to continue historical research; preserve the Sgt. York Homeplace, farm and artifacts; restore York Institute and improve education.

The original York Institute is a "legacy in distress". The building was the first secondary school in Fentress County, Tennessee and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Also, it was recently listed as one of the top ten Tennessee historical sites most in need of preservation by the Tennessee Preservation Trust.

With your help, Sgt. York's legacy can be preserved for future generations. When asked how he wanted to be remembered, he always replied "for improving education in Tennessee".
