Sgt. York Stamp Dedication

Pall Mall, Tennesse near Jamestown was the site of an event of historical significance Saturday, May 6th, 2000 where ceremonies were held honoring Tennessee's native son and legendary World War I hero, Sgt. Alvin C. York. The celebration got underway at 1PM at recently renovated York Country Store and Wolf River Post Office. The occasion marks the "First Day of Issue in Pall Mall" of the Sgt. Alvin C. York postage stamp. The commemorative stamp was released at the Pentagon May 3rd by the U.S. Postal Service.
